I’m watching the Cavs-Magic game and the refs have just called the stupidest tech I’ve seen in a while, and I have to say that the reffing this postseason has been bad. Not in the unfair variety, but in the “we’re going to call everything and ruin the fun of this sport” variety. These guys are athletes and are extremely competitive, so how can the league expect them to play against each other night in and night out without getting even a little aggravated? Howard was being pulled down quite forcefully by Varejao and once he laid the ball into the hoop, he flexed his muscle, resulting in the T. In one sense, this is taunting, which is against the rules, but it was barely a taunt, only lasting 2 seconds and then walking away. In another sense, the league promotes Dwight as Superman and allows him to wear a cape and do all these other shenanigans, yet he can’t flex after outmuscling another player for an important basket in the playoffs? It doesn’t make sense and it ruins the game, especially when it will lead to a one-game suspension for Howard on his next T. Let’s cut the bull and let the players play, the refs only need to step in during fights and very hard fouls, the rest should be pretty self-explanatory.

PS – I’m totally rooting for the Magic right now…
Totally agree w/ everything u had to say. This postseason in general has been ridiculous, and the fouls r really slowing down the pace, and ruining entertaining games. If Howard or Kobe have to sit out a game in the finals, well it certainly won’t boost the ratings i can tell u that much. There r’nt going to be any palace brawls in the near future, and David Stern has to chill out. I imagine he told the refs to take this hard line.
On a side note, congrats to dwight on actually making some FTs (i’m rooting for Magic too!!!)
